Help us eliminate the possibility of extinction by playing your part in helping create awareness and educating individuals on the current situation of the iguana by donating to local environmental enforcement groups like Environment Tobago, E.M.A and Iguanafreedom. The Blue Iguana or Grand Cayman Iguana (Cyclura lewisi) is a critically endangered species of lizard of the genus Cyclura endemic to the island of Grand Cayman. We don't want this to be the case here in Trinidad and Tobago. Hunting is not permitted in any Forest Reserve in Trinidad and Tobago between the hours of 7:30pm and 5:00am year round, but this is poorly enforced.E.T-"It is fairly common knowledge that hunting does go on in Tobago throughout the year, as the regulations described above are not being enforced due to lack of resources" Our aim is to save the Green Iguana or Common Iguana (Iguana iguana)and other species from extinction in Trinidad and Tobago.According to the Conservation of Wildlife Act, Chapter 67:01 of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, hunting the Iguana is permitted in Trinidad and Tobago between the first day of October and the last day of February.During the open Season, persons are allowed to purchase, sell, and offer for sale any iguana, agouti, tattoo, lappe, wildhog, pelican, booby, man o’ war bird or other animals, most of which are extinct or almost extinct. |
