Our aim is to save the Green Iguana or Common Iguana (Iguana iguana)and other species from extinction in Trinidad and Tobago. Green Iguanas (Iguana iguana) are popular as pets and as a food source in Latin America. While they are not on the endangered species list, they are listed under Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) because of their popularity. According to the Conservation of Wildlife Act, Chapter 67:01 of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, hunting the Iguana is permitted in Trinidad and Tobago between the first day of October and the last day of February.During the open Season, persons are allowed to purchase, sell, and offer for sale any iguana, agouti, tattoo, lappe, wild hog, pelican, booby, man o’ war bird or other animals, most of which are extinct or almost extinct. ![]() |
